Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is the Mexican American sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a anchor for SportsCenter and, occasionally, host SportsNation. She joined ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been bilingual since when she was nine years old. Her ability in this area helped her to get her first work at Univision, Miami. She worked alongside national producers on shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The CBS station of St. Petersburg hired her after this as reporters for sports. In 2009, she relocated in Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as journalist for The Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporting on stories related to drug trafficking and immigration both along the Texas and Mexico border, she served as a journalist on Fox2 News, which is a Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. Anchor duties for weather, sports or other events were frequent requests. Then she became the anchor and reporter on Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given higher responsibilities. She reported on the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. The Univision 23 channel also had her own local sports programming Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She also served as anchoring the sports section of Despierta America Deportes morning show. She also served in that capacity for the network's magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents are originally of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved into Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. She is the older sibling of her parents. In 1992, the family moved out of Mexico in search of the US and moved to Miami. In 1992, her parents split and shortly afterward in 1995 she remarried Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. In June of 2006, she went to spend an entire week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school however, she had a very clear vision of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. It was discovered that she liked the campus and that the school offered the major she wanted. Her studies were completed and she was accepted to the University for a master's degree in media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the manager of WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a part. His enthusiasm for journalism and confidence in herself inspired her. She, in turn strived to exceed the standards he set and to not disappoint him.
